Beginning Saturday, white-tailed deer, mule deer and turkey will be legal to hunt on over 1 million acres of public hunting lands in Texas. For $48, an Annual Public Hunting permit gets you access to public hunting areas such as the Mad Island Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Matagorda County and the Nannie M. Stringfellow, Justin Hurst and Justin Hurst-North Stringfellow Pasture WMA in Brazoria County. Check the Outdoor Annual for the types of archery and crossbow equipment that are allowed for taking game, as well as other bowhunting regulations.
